References & ongoing knowledge sources

Never before in the entire history of the world has there been so much information and knowledge available. Much of it of course, comes from existing world libraries, private collections and various commercial data bases, that due to the internet have now become easily accessable to millions.
     However there is a greater phenomenon appearing within this ever increasing mass of readily accessable world knowledge which is twofold;
a) Brand new perceptions and understanding about the true nature of reality are appearing as this new facility for the detailed comparison of the many different branches of historical, contemporary and ancient knowledge reveal the mutual underlying threads and principles that they all have in common. This in turn is fostering the emergence of a new integral, unified world view, born out of this unprecedented capacity of being able to at long last, bring all of the pieces of the 'puzzle of life' together.
b) The appearance of entirely new knowledge and understandings about human life, the universe and the deeper relationship between them that has not been previously recognised or understood before.
Just as an 'advanced' Lego set contains many more pieces and 'sub assemblies' to put together than a junior set, the new possibilities emerging for human mental and spiritual progress as we proceed into this new phase of universal and human evolution require a much greater range, scope and depth of knowledge to develop an overview of what is important to know. This will increasingly become an
imperative in order to understand and successfully integrate with the cascade of change now effecting every single facet of our lives..

The following knowledge source recommendations are by no means definitive and are simply some of the sources that I have found particularly useful and inspiring. They are all sources that are well designed, clearly communicated and have been created by people who somehow–by luck, natural inclination or destiny–manged to 'hit the nail on the head' and therefore may well save a person from wading through hundreds of other sources on the subject. Although I might not agree with all the conclusions of these brilliant researchers, I am in complete accord with their spirit of 'Exploring the road less traveled' - after all it is the road 'well traveled' that has brought us to the state the world is in today. Clearly the human race needs alternative knowledge, different views and the real truth of what life is all about. After all, if one has dug a hole in the wrong place, digging it deeper and faster won't solve the problem–it just makes an even bigger mess.

Forbidden History - J. Douglas Kenyon

Composed of 42 selected essays from Atlantis Rising magazine, this compilation highlights many of the key ideas that currently challenge the established mainstream view about history, human origins and the trusted 'pillars' of science. From the facts concerning the complete failure of Darwin's theory of evolution, to hard evidence of human remains that are millions of years old to the confirmation of advanced tool machining in Ancient Egypt and the new understanding that the universe is based in electrical causes rather than gravity, this work lucidly shows the volcanic change to the outdated worldview churning away beneath its surface.

The Source Field Investigations
- David Wilcock

Often the ideas that have made the biggest changes to our world view have come from 'outsiders'. David's relentless quest to pick up the thousands of important pieces of scientific information swept 'under the rug' because they don't fit the standard model has resulted in truly extraordinary insights into what the world and life might really be. Sourcing a great deal of research by gifted Russian scientists that has been ignored by the West, this book is a remarkably original synthesis of the many ideas and facts that point towards the Universe and all life being a single unified field of intelligence and purpose.

Picture

The Perception Deception - David Icke

This work is in many ways a culmination of 25 years of David's passionate quest to 'drill down' to the very core truth of what lies behind the events of the world and exactly how the human race is conditioned into believing in a 'false reality' that benefits the few who actually run the world. Ridiculed for many years, it is now very sobering to learn just how on the money he was all those years ago. A great overview of the vast territory of the many different subjects and considerations needed to begin to get some purchase upon why the world is like it is.
NB: although I might not agree with all of Mr Wilcock or Mr Icke's conclusions when they join their'dots' together, the range and scope of the 'dots' presented are indeed crucial to understand why the world is the way it is. The main thrust of what both are attempting to do is 'wake' people up to the fact that as humans we have been led to believe in and respond to a false reality. That the truth of the full potential of what we really are and why we are here has been kept from us. Therefore one of the most useful consequences of absorbing such summaries of the current "all and everything" is how do you think about it all? what system or framework can one use
to sort out the 'wheat from the chaff'?

Art & Imagination Series - Various

Originally published in the early 1980's and edited by Jill Purce, who is married to Rupert Sheldrake (they must have had great conversations over the dinner table!) the 30 titles in this series form an invaluable introductory library to the key teachings of many of the worlds sacred traditions. Richly illustrated with diagrams and photographs taking up at least 2/3rds of each book, this series is one of the first attempts to bring together the great wisdom of the ages for a new generation and a new era. Well written, skillfully designed, remarkably clear and lucid for such 'obscure' subjects.

Picture

Serpent in the Sky - John Anthony West

Although clearly to do with the 'High Wisdom of Ancient Egypt' this book is much more than that. It is one of the clearest and most intelligently composed explanations of how to understand for oneself the unseen laws, principles and sacred science that all high ancient civilisations based their world view and ways of life upon. Being already an established author as well as an authority on the work of R. A. Schwaller when he wrote this, and having also spent many years involved in the legacy of G.I. Gurdjieff's work, means that this is a vital work the world needed that no one else but JAW could have written!

A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe
- Michael S. Schneider

If my house was on fire and I could only grab one book it would be this one (and the wedding photo album of course darling!) Michael has done a truly amazing job of collecting examples from literature, design, art, geometry, nature, mythology and ancient traditions of their knowledge and application of the 12 fundamental principles of universal and natural law. Full of practical examples and excercises, this is an excellent source book to discover for oneself the hidden laws, order and intelligence behind the endless manifestations of the material worlds.

Quadriviaum - Various

The four classical liberal arts of Number, Geometry, Music & Cosmology... It seems hard to believe that only a few hundred years ago the study of natural law, harmony, proportion and the essence of number were considered to be essential foundations of ones education towards a fuller and deeper understanding of life.
This is an absolute gem of a work that creates a comprehensive source book of the core principles of a truly universal and cross cultural natural law wisdom.

After the Clockwork Universe - S. J. Goerner

For those who still think that the idea we are entering into a new and very different phase of human history is all a bit 'New Agey', this book will provide a very clear summation of the cyclic patterns in human history and the solid, well researched evidence for why humanity is not just going through change, but is undergoing the kind of 'great' change that we haven't seen since the collapse of the medieval world view triggered by the black death and culminating after the enlightenment in the modern world view.
She also shows how the new integral science and the number crunching power of super computers reveal that there is no such thing as randomness or chaos in the world and everything can be shown to conform to hidden patterns of order.

What the bleep do we know? - Various

There are many who say they their search for truth began as a result of not being able to accept the official story of 9/11. There is also another wave of people who began questioning the true nature of reality after seeing this movie. The story of how the movie and it's content came together in the first place is a remarkable example of a deeper reality wanting to find it's way into the human race's consciousness. The phenomenal success it had with audiences all over the world showed that the time was right for the 'mystical' truth revealed by quantum physics to have a greater influence in peoples lives. This 'book' version is an excellent encapsulation and extension upon the movies core themes and content.

The Field, the quest for the secret force of the Universe - Lynne McTaggart

As an investigative journalist Lynne McTaggart discovered while researching scientific papers on alternative healing methods, that there were numerous scientists and medical people discovering the most ‘miraculous’ things–using standard scientific methods –that totally contradicted the view that all of life’s phenomena are materially based. Virtually none of these ‘pioneers’ knew of each other because they worked ‘in secret’ knowing full well that to openly reveal their findings would result in ‘professional suicide!’
‘The Field’ is a scientific detective story that presents a stunning and deeply hope filled picture of an interconnected universe and an emerging new scientific theory that makes sense of supernatural phenomena.

Picture

The Tao of Physics - Fritjof Capara

A world renown physicist and systems theorist, Capra first became well known for this book, which explores the ways in which modern physics is changing our worldview from a mechanistic to a holistic and ecological one. Published way back in 1975, it is still in print worldwide and is referred to with the statue of Shiva in the courtyard of CERN, the Center for Research in Particle Physics in Geneva.
Capra's brilliant understanding and clear explanation of how the depths of modern physics and Eastern mysticism are fundamentally the same is a poignant reminder that western science actually arose out of the quest to discover and understand the hidden, creative forces of the creator.

Picture

The Intelligent Universe - Sir Fred Hoyle

A well known and popular astronomer, Fred Hoyle was one of the first scientists to openly and publicly question the established mainstream 'truth' of the theory of evolution and the origins of life on earth. A bit of a maverick and not afraid of controversy Hoyle puts together a very well reasoned and science based argument against the accepted theories and also exposes some of the deliberate omissions of important information and discoveries that were perpetrated to keep bogus mainstream ideas and inflated egos afloat. Although first published in the early 1980's this book is not only still relevant in terms of it's key arguments but is also a real gem in it's creative design and brilliant illustrations.

Picture

A new science of life - Rupert Sheldrake

As a young man at college, Sheldrake recalled  seeing an entire blackboard filled up with all the complex chemical equations required to digest and apple. Above the board some wag had written "Know thyself". Although a successful biologist in his own right, it was impressions like this that seeded in him the urge to delve much deeper into the numerous ancient philosophical and wisdom traditions of the past to see if there were valid ideas that explained the phenomena of life in terms that went beyond the 'matter as primacy' view that the western world had adopted since Descarte.
The resultant concept of 'Morphic fields' is an explanation that not only makes more sense, but also resonates strongly with the sacred science of past high civilisations.

Picture

The God of Logic - Michael S. King

Did you know that you cannot be eligible for the U.S. presidency unless you openly admit to believing in Neo Darwinist evolution? or that Karl Marx and the Communists played a crucial part in making Darwin's ideas popular because it suited their ideological agenda?
Mr King takes Darwin's theory apart, not with science but with classic logic, showing that the gaping holes in Darwin's reasoning are so vast it does make one wonder how Darwinism could have ever been touted as the 'pinnacle' of human reasoning ability and pure logic. Unless of course it was a deliberate propaganda campaign...

Picture

Cosmos and Psyche - Richard Tarnas

Professor Tarnas explains that his earlier, highly acclaimed work "The Passion of the Western Mind" was a preparation for this book. From masses of historical data he shows that although much of Western astrological tradition can not be substantiated the influence of the planetary transits can be.
What emerges are clearly discernible patterns between the aspects of the outer planets and major transitional events in the course of human history, such as the discovery of the Heliocentric solar system, the birth of the Renaissance, the French Revolution, and the Great Depression to name a few. This well researched work shows that not only has the course of human history been strongly influenced by the Cosmos via these transits, but that we are also going through a series of major transitional influences in this very time in which we live.

Picture

Cosmos - Ervin Lazlo & Jude Currivan

This is an excellent introduction to and summary of the new kind of view of the world beginning to appear and take shape - to quote,
"We are beginning to see the entire universe as a holographically interlinked network of energy and information, organically whole and self-referential at all scales of its existence. We, and all things in the universe, are nonlocally connected with each other and with all other things in ways that are unfettered by the hitherto known limitations of space and time...our existence has meaning and a human, planetary and even a cosmic purpose...our human mission is to facilitate and empower the dynamic journey of exploration and evolution of the universe."

A Beginners view of our Electric Universe
- Tom Findlay

The classical, gravity based mathematical models of the universe can only account for around 4% of it. According to those 'numbers' 96% of it is not there. Gravity only has impact as a force when it is already contained in enormous celestial bodies like suns, planets and moons. It has no effect on the type of fine particles of matter that supposedly 'coalesced' to form our solar system. However electricity is 1000 billion, billion, billion, billion times stronger, and is very effective in a conductive 'plasma' environment. Oh yes, and of course the universe is 99.99% plasma. This Electric Universe model will be to the gravity based model what Newton's principia was to Aristotle's 'Crystal spheres'...and maybe a lot more as well.

Picture

Intervention Theory Essentials - Lloyd Pye

Sir Fred Hoyle–and many others since–came to the conclusion after examining all the available evidence, that the 'seeds' of life could not have ever arisen on earth as mainstream scientists propose, and therefore must have orginated elsewhere in the universe. In a stunning condensation of all the existing explanations for the 'story' of the origins and development of life on earth–with its proposed 'time line'–highlights how implausible the whole idea of life orginating from some 'primordial soup' on earth actually is. Lloyd also then shows hundreds of instances where the next 'step' of evolution could only have happened by some external influence and certainly not by 'chance'.

The Hero with a Thousand Faces - Joseph Campbell

Joseph Campbell, perhaps the world's most gifted comparative mythologist, found that at the heart of virtually all of humanities storys is essentially the same story, the 'monomyth' of the hero's journey. A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man. Campbell and other scholars also describe narratives of Gautama Buddha, Moses, and Christ in terms of the heros journey. It was this ancient pattern of arcehytpes that George Lucas based the Star Wars triology upon with great success.

Picture

Meetings with Remarkable Men - G.I.Gurdjieff

There is an ancient saying that "When the student is ready the teacher will appear". Although one would be hard pressed to find two people that can agree upon how much of this story is factual and how much of it is allegorical. Gurdjieff himself explained that the purpose of this book was to fill out ideas needed to complete his series of writings and were originally intended only to be read aloud to his students. However the story does relate in a very real way the 'essence' of what a true seeker's life will be like as they are drawn by certain natural inner impulses towards all that hints of a deeper truth and meaning behind the facade of normal, everyday life. In Gurdjieff's case this culminates in what he was in determined search of finding him, and like the hero in the hero's journey he returns to the outer world with something of enormous benefit to mankind, an ancient teaching revitalised for a modern world.

Picture

The Teachings of G.I.Gurdjieff - P.D.Ouspensky

In my opinion these are the two most important books of the 20th Century. In Search of the Miraculous is both the story of P. D. Ouspensky's experience as a student of G. I. Gurdjieff as well as an outline of the teaching of his system. The Fourth Way is made up from transcripts of question and answer sessions between Ouspensky and his students.
When taken up and applied as
originally taught, with the mutual support of others in a 'group', the work produces truly incredible results with a definite increase in ones consciousness, vitality, will and a deeply profound understanding of the workings of creation and the human system. The work is based entirely in the esoteric understanding of universal law, particularly the law of 3 and the law of 7, because everything in the manifested Universe is constructed as a result of the working interaction between these two great laws. The laws themselves can be found at the heart of the human system as well, giving a direct key way into development through the reality of the maxim "As above so below". Much nonsense has been written about Gurdjieff over the years from an
intellectual standpoint which completely misses the point as this human development work is of a practical method, therefore it needs to be done to get results, and the results, if one is successful, certainly validate the teaching and hence the teacher.
Gurdjieff himself explained that the system was made up of only fragments of a much greater teaching created by 'conscious' men. As he said "If they were ordinary ideas created by ordinary men there would be no point in studying them."

Picture

Stairway to the Stars - Max Gorman

This truly is a highly polished, rare gem of a book. A 'Poet Philosopher' Max has done something many have attempted to do but ultimately failed, and that is to find a way to give genuinely enquiring young minds an introduction and deep sense of what the hidden, inner tradition and pathway to human development and refinement might actually be.
He is able to do this is due to the fact that his own 'work on himself' has clearly produced a certain level of consciousness that allows him to see human history and its inner strivings in a clearer light. Secondly with his excellent scholarship, poetry and fine appreciation of the art of language, he has that very rare ability to balance the duality of 'head and heart' to produce something that is beyond both.
This would be a great book for anyone wanting to assess for themselves if there actually is an 'inner tradition' and the possibility of a 'stairway' to a higher existence.
